We are surrounded by technological developments and paid or free applications which are being introduced to us every other day. We would like to share with you the apps which we have been tried and found useful.

- SKYSCANNER: The most popular app for those who like to travel by plane. You can select the most suitable one for your budget amongst thousands of flights by hundreds of airline companies. You have a chance to buy a cheaper ticket by being informed of price changes for the routes you are interested in by putting an alert. One of the apps that I use most frequently…
- TRIPADVISOR:Another one of the apps I like most! I obtain instant information on places to stay, things to do in the vicinity, plane tickets, etc. Besides those, you can make a good choice by reading customers’ evaluations. One of the best specialties of this app is that you can post your photos and interpretations right away. I recommend to those who love sharing like me. You can also download hundreds of city files and browse them without internet.

- YANDEX NAVIGATION: You will feel at home anywhere with this app… You will find detailed maps of many cities around the world, detailed information regarding the city in Yandex Maps. You can also plan a route to avoid traffic.
- XE Currency: You can convert any foreign currency into another one. You do not need a calculator to convert the currency of the country you are visiting when you are connected to the internet. Just open the app for updating the currencies. Do not forget that this foreign currency conversion application is very much needed during your trips.
- WHATSAPP: WhatsApp which has proven what a valuable app it is by being bought by Facebook for 19 billion dollars is very useful, allowing free of charge oral and written communication thru the internet. No more telephone cards have to be bought!
- WIFI MAP: Do not be afraid of being left without the internet in foreign countries because there is the WIFI MAP. You can get free of charge WI-FI in spaces open to the public.
- FOURSQUARE & SWARM: I believe that this is very useful for learning your location during the trip as well as remembering the places you have visited. Foursquare shows photos and interpretations by customers for restaurants, hotels, motels, fast food restaurants and more… So, you get a chance of finding the best place for you. Swarm app is like Foursquare, i.e. Swarm marks your location (check-in)… Then you can easily remember the places you visited within your country or abroad by just making check-in. Some establishments apply discounts or offer treats for your check-in’s. We would suggest that you use this free of charge app during your trips.
- ISTONE: If you hesitate to ask where the W.C. is in a shopping mall in Germany, I-Stone is just for you! I-Stone is a translation application for those travellers who do not speak a foreign language. It can translate and record more than 300 frequently used sentences in five languages. Internet isn’t necessary for using I-Stone which also has a local pronunciation facility.
- GOOGLE TRANSLATE: One of the best apps, making translations in 90 languages. Although some of the translations are absurd, I still think it may be helpful. You can also screen-shot a text on a board or photograph and get the translation. I tried and found it successful.
